Community strength, rooted like the baobab
Baobab Community Foundation supports community development, education, health, and poverty relief across The Gambia. Built with the people we serve, not for them.

Our impact numbers are coming soon
We've been doing this work since 2024. Real figures will appear here as we document them, no placeholders, no invented totals.
Rooted in the community since 2024, now online for the first time
Baobab Community Foundation is a registered Gambian charity focused on community development, with education, health, and poverty relief as the pillars that grow from it. We've been doing this work on the ground since 2024. This website is simply the first time we're telling that story in public, and building it in the open from here on.
- Community-Led
- Priorities set with the communities we work in, not for them.
- Dignity-First
- We tell honest stories of resilience and agency, not pity.
- Transparent
- Every gift is acknowledged, and every update is public.
Four pillars, one anchor cause
Community development is where we start. Education, health, and poverty relief grow out of it, because strong communities are what make lasting change possible.

The Catalyst Initiative
The Catalyst Initiative is a sustainable economic empowerment and resource access program designed to alleviate generational poverty by transitioning vulnerable micro-vendors, informal market operators, and low-income families from short-term dependency to long-term economic self-sufficiency.

Clean Water and Hygiene Access
The Clean Water and Hygiene Access Initiative was designed to address critical vulnerabilities in rural and semi-urban communities suffering from acute water scarcity and poor sanitation infrastructure.

Community Gathering Initiative
The Community Gathering Initiative was designed to foster local civic engagement, strengthen neighborhood bonds, and provide an inclusive platform for community members to connect, share resources, and collaborate on local goals.
Why “Baobab”
Across West Africa, the baobab is where communities gather. It's a tree that can live for centuries, sheltering generations under one canopy. That's the idea behind this foundation: durable, community-rooted support that grows stronger with time.
Our founding story is still being written. Check back here as we share how Baobab Community Foundation came together and who's behind it.
Numbers coming soon. We'll publish real project, community, and volunteer counts here as they happen.
