Rooted in community, built to last
Baobab Community Foundation has been working in Gambian communities since 2024 — this website is simply the first time we've told that story online. Here's who we are, why we chose our name, and where things stand.
How Baobab Community Foundation started
Baobab Community Foundation has been active since 2024 — working quietly, community-first, without a website or social presence. The full story of who started this and why is still being written up. We'd rather leave this honest and blank than invent a story before it's told properly.

A tree that shelters generations
Across West Africa, the baobab is more than a tree — it's a gathering place. Villages hold meetings under its canopy, elders tell stories in its shade, and its trunk can live for a thousand years, holding water through the driest seasons.
We chose the baobab because it captures what we want this foundation to be: resilient, deeply rooted in the communities it serves, and built to outlast any single project or donation cycle. It's a symbol of endurance and shelter, not charity as a one-time transaction.
